The Main Trail of Petra

The Main Trail in Petra is a popular and accessible 3.9 km one-way walk starting from the Visitor Centre and ending at Qasr al-Bint. It begins with impressive monuments like the Djinn Block Tombs and Obelisk Tomb, leading into the Siq, a stunning 1.2 km sandstone gorge once used as the city’s main entrance. Visitors can admire Petra’s ancient water channels and marvel as the Siq opens onto the breathtaking Treasury (Al-Khazna). The trail continues past rock-cut facades, the Theatre, and the colonnaded street, ending at Qasr al-Bint, a grand temple complex. Along the way, tourists experience Petra’s rich Nabataean history, remarkable architecture, and unique geology. Highlights include the Aslah Triclinium, Al Mudhlim Tunnel, the Nymphaeum, the Great Temple, and the Temenos Gate
